Demos from San Jose State

These are drawings and paintings are demos I did for my class, when I taught at San Jose State University. Teaching this class was so much fun. It was very inspiring to work so many talented students, who were very hungry to succeed. The whole class read Roald Dahl's story, The BFG, and created a body of artwork based on the book, throughout the semester.

Hey Bobby, I remember these sketches from a while back. Great stuff, as always. It's good to see that you have a blog up. I just posted my own site on here tonight. Check it out. I figured that I might as well join the blog squad. Hope all is well.

hey Bobby,
it's great to see your work on the blogs. I remember some of the stuff you have here from when you taught 113 a few years back. Looks like things are going well in NY, keep it up!

I just found your blog! Awesome stuff as usual. Great drawings for the Out of Picture book. Do you plan on doing another book soon?

Ariel,

I can't tell you how cool it is to see your progress since Illustration 113. Keep posting awesome work.

Hi Nikki!
It is great to hear from you! It is really cool to see what you've been up to on your blog.
As far as Out of Picture volume 2 is going, the gang is back working on it and from the preliminary drawings I've seen, this one is going to be better than the first. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I will be able to make it into the next book. I'm currently working on two childrens books this year, and I am going to be really pressed to make the deadlines.
If I'm not in volume 2, I will definately plan to be in volume 3.

Bob, I wish I could have been in this BFA class. I remember seeing the BFA gallery that year and I was so enthralled by the student work. I'd read the BFG as a little girl, and everything looked so much as I had visualized it. Your work is so inspiring. I could have learned a lot from you. Thanks for coming to SJSU to demo color keying. I hope I can reach your level someday!

Man! I wish I could've attended that class. Why oh why didn't you teach when I lived in town? I miss you Bob! But I'll see you soon. ;)

Oh man, these are great. I worked on a CG version of the BFG in London back in 1999, the project remains sadly unrealised. It's such a good story.

Hi Bobby,

I remember these! Thanks for teaching a great class. It's the stuff I've learned in your class that helped after I got of school.
